About staying in Acapulco De Juarez

Acapulco makes sense in three bands. The Dorada zone, along the Costera Miguel Alemán, is classic bay-front Acapulco: tower hotels on the beach, many of them veterans, at very accessible prices. Acapulco Diamante, southeast toward the airport, holds the new build — resorts and condos on Playa Diamante — more isolated and pricier. Traditional Acapulco, around Caleta and La Quebrada, keeps the golden-age hotels and a Mexican-family feel. Our 2026 scans logged 48 hotels with a real price: from US$24 a night and a typical rate of about US$87. Honestly: the city is still rebuilding after hurricanes Otis (2023) and John (2024) — most of the hotel stock has reopened, but check recent reviews for your exact hotel — and today's crowd is overwhelmingly domestic.

Acapulco De Juarez hotel FAQs

Where should I stay in Acapulco?

On the Costera's Dorada zone if you want the bay, restaurants and life on foot — it is also where the budget stretches furthest. Diamante suits newer resorts and a more open beach, with a car or taxis. Caleta and old Acapulco are for nostalgia and the bay's calmest swimming.

When is Acapulco cheapest?

Midweek, nearly always: Acapulco lives off Mexico City weekends, and Sunday-to-Thursday rates can run far lower. September and October are the cheapest months of the year, with rain and cyclone risk. The peaks are Holy Week, Christmas-New Year and long weekends, when the Costera fills and prices double.

How do I get from the airport?

The airport sits out by Diamante, 30-45 minutes from the Costera depending on traffic. Authorised transport runs about MX$300-500 per vehicle to the Dorada zone; Diamante costs less. Direct buses from Mexico City also arrive in around 5 hours for about MX$600-800.

What should I know before booking?

That the recovery is uneven: some hotels are renovated end to end, others still run at half steam. Read reviews from recent months for the specific hotel and confirm which facilities are open. The bay repays it: the La Quebrada cliff divers, the sunsets, and a seafood scene that never lost step.
