4.32174 reviewsAvoid, we checked in and then less than five mins later checked out again. I would not recommend this hotel to my worst enemy. It is dirty, old and falling apart. Reception agreed to refund us at first but then 30mins after leaving the hotel I had an email with some excuse to why they would not. Look for a hotel close by with two trees in the title and you will have a far more enjoyable stay. But as to Microtel, this one gets a big thumbs down from me. I would give it a negative rating if that was possible.
Today, October 8, 2024, I made a call to the reservations area, Mr. Julián Benavides answered me at 10:19 a.m., he gave me the telephone number where I could reach him and later at 4:20 p.m. (his colleague answered me), to confirm the reservation at the Microtel Inn and Suites by Wyndham Toluca, however when I arrived at 7:33 p.m. at the aforementioned hotel, the guy who was at the reception at that time told me that I did not have a reservation. They did not respect my reservation, I suppose that the guy arbitrarily canceled it and assigned it to another guest, I feel that I was discriminated…
Inexpensive and clean, the rooms are simple, my bed a queen, no fridge or microwave, but the lights and plumbing work fine. The staff has been good to me, and patient with my negligible Spanish. I'd come back. Be aware though, this is near the airport and way east of downtown in an industrial area. There's a nice mall nearby but little else .
Planning your trip to Toluca
Toluca is the capital's high-altitude neighbour: at 2,660 metres it is Mexico's coldest major city, and its hotels live off work — industrial parks, the State of Mexico government, and an airport that doubles as Mexico City's alternate. The executive hotels group along the airport-Metepec corridor; Metepec, with its pottery-town pueblo mágico, is in fact the most pleasant place to sleep. The Centro, around the arcades and the Cosmovitral stained-glass garden, offers simple rooms at fair prices. Our 2026 scans logged 22 hotels with a real price: from US$50 a night and a typical rate of about US$77, with weekends notably cheaper. Honestly: Toluca is a practical stop more than a destination — the prize is the Nevado de Toluca, whose crater lakes sit ninety minutes away, and the arcades: green chorizo and queue-free museums.
