Location
City Express by Marriott Guaymas is at Boulevard Luis Encinas Johnson Col. Las Quintas Sin Número, Heroica Guaymas, Mexico. The facilities, in detail
For food and drink, the hotel lists room service. On the wellness side there's fitness center. Practical services include 24 hour front desk, 24h. security, free car parking, laundry service, parking and security features. In the room itself: air conditioning, free wifi, iron and board, safe, shower and tv. The full list of 24 facilities is below; double-check the ones that are deal-breakers when you book, as hotels adjust what they offer by season.
Good to know before you book
The booking flow is three steps: dates and guests in this page's widget, the live price on app.impt.io, and instant confirmation. Most rooms are offered with free cancellation until a few days before arrival — the exact deadline is shown next to each rate before you pay. Every confirmed booking also removes a tonne of CO₂ through IMPT's carbon-removal projects, at no extra cost to you. When comparing, note that the three-star rating reflects the hotel's declared standard; the guest reviews on this page tell you how it actually feels to stay.
Heroica Guaymas for hotel guests
The port city — the old centre, Malecón Malpica, the municipal market, the San Fernando cathedral — runs on fishing, shipyards and the navy, and its hotels are plain, practical rooms for work trips, highway stops and early ferry departures. San Carlos, twenty minutes northwest, is the holiday half: a sheltered bay, marinas, Cerro Tetakawi and pools facing the water. Our 2026 scans found only three hotels here with a live price: from US$74 a night, with a typical rate of around US$92. Supply is thin, so book ahead. All hotels in Heroica Guaymas →

Planning your trip to Heroica Guaymas
When to go
November to April is the good stretch: 20-26°C, dry skies, a sea too cool for long swims but ideal for walking, fishing and boat days. It is also when the winter crowd from the US and Canada settles into San Carlos with RVs and month-long stays, which keeps rates around the bay firm.
May to September is genuinely punishing: 38-42°C, sticky humidity and nights that never cool down. August and September add downpours and a real chance of a tropical storm. This is the cheapest time to come, but you need air conditioning that actually works and no ambitious plans between noon and six.
Holidays rewrite the maths. Semana Santa fills Playa Miramar and San Carlos with families from Hermosillo and Ciudad Obregón, and summer fishing tournaments clear out the rooms near the marinas. Outside those dates midweek is usually easy — though with three priced hotels in town, easy is never a guarantee.
Getting there and around
Most people arrive via Hermosillo. The international airport there is about 130 km away, an hour and a half on the Federal 15 toll road, with rental desks and frequent buses. Guaymas has its own airport, General José María Yáñez, but the schedule is thin and unreliable for planning; do not build a trip around it.
By road, line buses connect several times a day with Hermosillo, Empalme, Ciudad Obregón, Navojoa and the Nogales border. The port also runs the ferry to Santa Rosalía in Baja California Sur — a few sailings a week, with times that move with the season and the sea, so confirm before you lock in a room.
Locally, a car makes life much simpler. San Carlos sits about 20 km from the centre, Playa Miramar six or seven. City buses are cheap and slow; taxis run on the order of MX$80-150 for short trips. Stick to the main highway after dark and skip rural back roads at night.
Where to stay, zone by zone
The centre and the port are the working city: the municipal market, the San Fernando cathedral, Plaza de los Tres Presidentes and the Malecón Malpica. Hotels here are simple and functional, built for business travellers, drivers breaking the Federal 15 and ferry passengers. Expect port noise and no glamour, but the cheapest beds and the best connections.
Miramar and Bacochibampo, a few minutes west, give you a city beach where locals actually swim. San Carlos is the resort side — bay, marinas, Cerro Tetakawi behind — and holds most of the pools, sea views and seasonal rentals. Calm and distinctly international in winter, close to deserted in August.
Be realistic about scale: our 2026 scans logged just three hotels with a real price, from US$74 with a median of around US$92. That is a small sample and a signal that formal supply is short. In high season, securing any room matters more than choosing the perfect zone.
Eating and going out
Seafood is the point: bay shrimp, scallops, grilled fish, ceviches and cocktails. The marisquerías downtown and along the malecón are informal and mostly a lunchtime affair, closing earlier than visitors expect. Budget somewhere around MX$150-300 a head with a beer.
After dark it turns Sonoran: carne asada, tacos and bacon-wrapped hot dogs from carts that appear after nine. It is cheap, MX$50-120 covers it, and midweek that street food is the port's real nightlife, alongside a handful of old-school cantinas.
San Carlos plays a different game, with bay-view restaurants and bars that fill with winter visitors and empty out badly in summer, when some close or cut their hours. Off-season, check that a place is actually open before driving twenty kilometres for dinner.
Booking well
With so few hotels carrying a published rate, the rule is simple: book early, especially December to April, at Semana Santa and on long weekends. Seasonal rentals in San Carlos are often reserved months in advance by the same returning winter regulars, year after year.
Always ask about air conditioning and parking. From May to September the first decides whether the trip is bearable at all, and downtown the second is not a given. If you arrive on the ferry or leave before dawn for Hermosillo, confirm reception hours before you pay.
Check which Guaymas your hotel is in, too. A map pin labelled Guaymas can mean the industrial port or San Carlos — twenty minutes apart and two different holidays. Treat our figures, from US$74 with a typical rate of around US$92 in the 2026 scans, as starting prices that climb on winter weekends.
