There will definitely not be a next stay. The hotel as a whole is not up to date. Old, partly dirty carpets in the corridors and rooms, dirty wallpaper, the TV in my room didn't work. The security is catastrophic: my colleague was robbed right outside the front door. The breakfast is unacceptable. The entrance hall is unheated and furnished with old armchairs. There is no bar. The whole ambience is uncomfortable and out of date.
The best Mexican hotel we have ever stayed in! Also the best value. Although the area is the industrial part of the city, the overbridge to cross the busy road to the Gallerias mall are literally outside the hotel lobby. It's only 5-6 minutes walk away. There were no OXXOs nearby so if you are looking for a shop turn left as you leave the hotel and left again at the first street you come to. There's a small tienda not far away. The hotel foyer has vending machines with drinks and snacks so bring some coins! We were warned not to walk at night because there were a lot of muggings and assaults…
Planning your trip to Toluca
Toluca is the capital's high-altitude neighbour: at 2,660 metres it is Mexico's coldest major city, and its hotels live off work — industrial parks, the State of Mexico government, and an airport that doubles as Mexico City's alternate. The executive hotels group along the airport-Metepec corridor; Metepec, with its pottery-town pueblo mágico, is in fact the most pleasant place to sleep. The Centro, around the arcades and the Cosmovitral stained-glass garden, offers simple rooms at fair prices. Our 2026 scans logged 22 hotels with a real price: from US$50 a night and a typical rate of about US$77, with weekends notably cheaper. Honestly: Toluca is a practical stop more than a destination — the prize is the Nevado de Toluca, whose crater lakes sit ninety minutes away, and the arcades: green chorizo and queue-free museums.
