4.4918 reviewsThe service was amazing. All the staff were friendly and most were fluent in English, Spanish and I noticed a few spoke French. The room was great except the large crack in the floor, which made us fearful of using the in room jacuzzi. The tile in the bathroom was very dated and could use updating. Lime green with a darker green trim. The restaurant had great food, but the regular visits from raccoons and iguanas scared a lot of guests. The staff say it is their environment and we are visitors in it, so they let them wander.
I almost didn’t stay at this hotel because of the bad reviews, but I’m glad I gave it a chance. Overall, it’s a beautiful hotel located right in front of the calmest and most stunning ocean view. The staff were very friendly and courteous, which made my stay even better. I absolutely loved the island! One thing to note—it is a bit far from downtown. If I come back, I might choose a hotel that's closer to the city center. We ended up walking a lot, which I didn’t really mind, but taking a taxi every day would definitely add up. Trying to be fair, but this is the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in. Las Nubes de Holbox is old, dirty, and seriously understaffed. The photos on their website are extremely misleading, clearly taken many years ago. The hotel no longer looks anything like what is advertised. Their so-called beach club is not actually on the beach. You have to cross a swampy puddle that smells terrible and is full of mosquitoes. The centre, by the ferry dock, holds the budget hotels, the restaurants and what little bustle exists. Westward toward Punta Cocos and eastward toward Punta Mosquito the beach opens up and the boutique hotels appear, hammocks strung over the water — pricier and quieter. Our 2026 scans logged 47 hotels with a real price: from US$38 a night and a typical rate of about US$92. Honestly: getting here takes effort — two and a half hours from Cancún plus a ferry — mosquitoes and sandflies show up the moment it rains, nearly everything is paid in cash, and when the island fills, its services strain. That is the price of slow paradise.
