On the other hand, the location is highly questionable. Because of that, the price feels unjustifiably high: for the same money, I can get an excellent room in the heart of the expensive districts of Mexico City (CDMX) — Polanco. These prices would make sense if the hotel was right in the center of San Cristóbal. This is the kind of hotel where you’d take, let’s say, a very high-level lady. Beautiful Setting, But Deeply Flawed Hospitality The hotel boasts a stunning location and impressive design, but unfortunately, this was overshadowed by some of the worst service we’ve ever experienced in a hotel of this category. On day one, we arrived for breakfast at 8 a.m. as the first (and only) guests, yet it took 45 minutes to serve a basic avocado toast. No apology, no explanation – just an arrogant glare when we finally had to insist. We had to rush out to keep our scheduled visit. Plaza 79 is a really beautiful hotel with really well designed rooms and interior. We stayed there for 2 nights and also went into the hotel for breakfast which was really good and you definitely get full! Totally worth the money- I would definetly come again :)

The axis is the Real de Guadalupe pedestrian street and the blocks around the zócalo: that is where the courtyard-mansion boutique hotels, the serious coffee and the low-key nightlife concentrate.
